Care Quality Commission

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) are the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England.

The CQC make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and encourage them to improve.

They monitor, inspect and regulate services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety and publish what is found, including performance ratings to help people choose care.

CQC Inspection Report 2022

The Buntingford Medical Centre was inspected as part of their random inspection process on 21/07/2022 and are rated as needing improvement.

The practice and staff are understandably disappointed with the outcome of this inspection and the final rating. We feel strongly that the evidence used to reach the rating is not reflective of our practices and processes.

The practice has provided additional evidence to the CQC Inspector. Several incorrect statements have since been removed from their report, but we still believe the report to contain many factual inaccuracies and incorrect interpretation of the evidence submitted.

We acknowledge, however, that the inspection has provided us with an opportunity for review and reflection of our internal processes, and we have a firm action plan in place to address these issues.

We would like to strongly reassure our patients that no harm to any patient has been identified in this process.

We have robust and competent clinical and administrative teams who are tremendously committed to providing and supporting traditional high quality, sustainable, family orientated medical services for all our patients. We are constantly reviewing our performance, making improvements and actively planning for the challenges primary care will be facing in the coming years, both nationally, as well locally with the challenge of local population growth.

We would like to thank all those who have voiced messages of support and positive feedback of your real experiences of dealing with the practice.

The full report and supporting evidence can be accessed on the CQC website
